Responsibilities:
- Take lead in project execution for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction and commissioning, which requires thorough understanding of scope, schedule, stakeholders and keeping all parties in sync.
- Identify gaps in scope & responsibility and work with stakeholders to address them to ensure successful project implementation. This will require a comprehensive understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and permitting process.
- Apply engineering principles and consult subject matter experts, as needed, to identify issues & drive solutions on projects.
- Specify equipment for projects as required, including Transformers, Switchgear, protection solutions, etc.
- Interface with internal (project managers, product engineers, sales team) and external stakeholders (utilities, AHJs, contractors, end customers) to ensure consistent communication.
- Review project design documents including single line drawings, communication diagrams, layouts, equipment test reports, etc.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve internal processes and product
Qualifications & Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power System Engineering) or equivalent experience ; PE certification or equivalent is preferred
- 5+ years of experience of leading project design, preferably in the building of large power stations or PV or other utility-scale power projects including minimum 2 years of field service and/or commissioning experience of power generation / conversion, power electronics and controls, solar power systems and battery energy storage systems or power plant / medium-voltage equipment installation.
- Preferably 3+ years of Solar Energy System, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and/or hybrids product knowledge and business process experience
- Familiarity with battery energy storage systems design, power generation systems and inverter products is required
- Must have knowledge of power electronics and controls
- Experience with PLC, MarkVI, MarkVIe, controls systems, HMI, SCADA is preferred
- Ability to understand and implement controls software
- AutoCAD required is AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN / Solidworks preferred.
- Excel basics (using charts, graphs, fonts, borders, shading, formulas, tables etc) required.
- Industrial standards and how they are applied. Standards include but are not limited to: UL 9540 (A), UL 1642, UL 1973, UL 1741, NEC, NFPA, NEMA.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods,
- Basic electronics and circuit analysis (analyze basic DC and AC - basic electrical laws, series and parallel circuits, network analysis concepts, grounding techniques, magnetism, inductance/capacitance, resistance, diodes, potentiometers, logic operations etc.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem solving
- Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible
- Intellectual curiosity and technical aptitude necessary to rapidly learn new technologies and customer applications
- Proficient in English language, both verbal and written, Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30%
